SYMPTOMATIC CERVICAL POLYP IN PREGNANCY – A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Cervical polyps are the commonest cervical lesions and
occur in about 2-5% of women1.Cervical polyps can be
misdiagnosed in early pregnancy when significant
bleeding can lead to the diagnosis of an inevitable
miscarriage6.We present the case of young nulliparous
woman with symptomatic cervical polyp in pregnancy.
She had excision of the polyp with simultaneous insertion
of cervical cerclage via McDonald stitch for dilated cervix
in first trimester. She subsequently developed preterm
contraction and drainage of amniotic liquor culminating in
preterm delivery in early third trimester.
