Abstract

This is a 10-year study of the pattern of presentations, treatment and outcomes of treatment of children with congenital talipes equinovarus deformity at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja. 491 patients were seen (male: female ratio 1.6:1). At presentation half of the patients (249) were under 3 months of age. There were 294 bilateral cases. The casts were applied weekly after manipulation using the Ponseti method. At each visit the degree of severity and progress of treatment was evaluated using the Pirani score. Our results showed successful and satisfactory results using the Ponseti method.
