Abstract

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a highly transmissible and pathogenic coronavirus that causes coronavirus infectious disease 2019 (COVID-19). With an initial worldwide death toll of over 200 and an exponential jump to more than 9800 cases, the WHO declared a public health emergency on January 31st 2020. On 11th March 2020, the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic.1 Since the WHO declaration, COVID-19 has continued to affect all aspects of the society, including health care delivery, social life, culture and the economy. The threat of COVID-19 remains a serious concern for patients and care providers. As of 31st of December 2020, approximately 79,232,555 cases of COVID-19 with 1,754,493deaths resulting in a case fatality rate of 2.2% was reported globally
