Abstract

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)is a disease condition in which there is an irreversible breakdown in immunological tolerance resulting in orid
(1,2) autoimmune manifestations in affected patients. Autoantibody production to human leucocyte antigens (HLA) and non-HLA antigens may result in
immunological sensitization in SLE patients which places such patients at a high immunological risk of rejecting the transplanted renal allograft. A common
concern in transplantation of patients with Lupus nephritis is the safety of proceeding to transplantation in the context of Positive B and T cell Complement
Dependent Cytotoxicity crossmatch (CDCXM). This review focuses on the role of Flow Cytometry crossmatch (FCXM) and Luminex-based single
antigen bead (L-SAB) in evaluating thesafety of transplantation in such sensitized patients .
